The Leadership Agency is working with a fast-growing tech marketplace that is changing the way people travel! They operate in over 180 countries and have received 5-star ratings from over 1M users. We are looking for a VP of Finance to lead the finance strategy, grow the team and company, and report to the President and CEO.
- Lead and own overall financial ecosystem of the company, including monthly financial statements, monthly forecasts, variance analysis, financial models, annual planning and budgeting, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll
- Work in partnership with legal and/or third-party advisors as needed to stay in compliance with all regulatory requirements such as tax payments and analysis (sales tax, income tax, payroll tax, etc.) and annual financial audits
- Lead and develop a strong finance and accounting team by setting clear expectations, establishing deadlines, and growing the team as needed
- Set, develop, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the business in partnership with data reporting team
- Work with investor relations to proactively and reactively communicate financial information and context to investors
- Lead board and investor meetings (preparing slide decks, actions needed) in close partnership with CEO
- Play a role in future capital sourcing by owning relationships with external capital providers such as banks, investment firms, and other sources of capital
- Use business cases to implement strategic financial decisions
- Drive a culture of data-informed decision-making across the organization
- Work cross functionally with the leaders of the business to determine budgeting needs and requirements
- Report into CEO and President
- Remote first with occasional travel for business meetings and events
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience with financial analysis (including finance, consulting, investment banking, equity research, and private equity/venture capital roles)
- Experience in high growth tech company, seeing 2X or 3X revenue
- Experience supporting a financing round or liquidity event
- Strong preference for experience with two-sided marketplaces with multiply currencies and geographies
- Strong communicator with the ability to articulate the why and context around the numbers
- Experience assessing the health of companies and advising on strategic decisions based on data driven analysis
- In-dept understanding of the 3 key financials statements, how they are intertwined, and how to interpret them
- Familiarity with Canadian and U.S. accounting standards
- Expert in bridging accounting reporting to management financial reporting including metrics such as EBITDA and EBITDA adjustments
- Experience using QuickBooks, NetSuite, G-suite products (G-sheets, G-docs, G-slides, etc.)
- Experience managing an accounting system implementation a plus
- Strong process design experience
- Experience confidently working with internal senior executives and external investor relations
- Previous experience managing and leading an accounting and finance team
- Experience in the travel industry a plus
- Must be located in the United States or Canada
