As an Export Trader, you lead the company s export grain trading business unit. You will be responsible for facilitating the export of grain products to international markets, optimizing trading strategies, and ensuring the company s competitive position in the industry. This role requires a deep understanding of the grain market, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to forge lasting relationships with international partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- P&L ownership: Responsible for developing and growing a profitable export trading P&L within agreed risk boundaries.
- Market Analysis: Continuously monitor global grain market trends, including supply and demand, price fluctuations, and geopolitical factors affecting trade.
- Trading Strategies: Develop and execute effective trading strategies to maximize profitability while managing risks associated with grain exports.
- Sourcing: Identify and negotiate with domestic suppliers to secure a reliable supply of high-quality grain products for export.
- Customer Relations: Build and maintain relationships with international customers, ensuring customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
- Logistics Management: Oversee the logistics of grain shipments, in collaboration with Merchandising Assistant.
- Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks related to customers, suppliers, currency exchange, market volatility, regulatory constraints, and trade disputes.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on trading activities, risks, positions, market analysis, and financial performance to guide decision-making.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant trade regulations, tariffs, and sanctions.
- Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, terms, and agreements with suppliers and customers to secure favorable terms and pricing.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and legal departments, to ensure smooth and efficient trade operations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in a relevant field, such as Agribusiness, International Business, or Economics.
- Proven minimum 3 years experience in grain trading or related agriculture commodity trading, in an export-oriented role. Demonstrable track record.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Highly results oriented.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Understanding of international trade regulations and compliance.
- Familiarity with risk management and hedging strategies.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability to a fast-paced trading environment
