We are looking for a highly skilled DevOps/Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our team at Freestone Grove, an innovative multi-manager, fundamental investing hedge fund startup that combines quantitative strategies. We pride ourselves on developing industry-leading internal tools and quant research tools that have been the secret sauce for one of the most successful Hedge Funds in recent history.
The Opportunity:
At Freestone Grove, our focus spans eight different sector teams, covering all major industries including technology, consumer, healthcare, industrials, energy, and more. Additionally, we are developing two supplementary strategies: ECM (equity capital markets) and potentially risk ARB. As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the company's cloud infrastructure and ensuring its availability, reliability, and scalability.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement highly scalable and secure infrastructure solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP from the ground up.
- Develop and maintain Docker images and Kubernetes configurations to support various applications across multiple teams.
- Manage and administer repositories and maintain code deployment and version control.
- Develop, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for our various sector teams and supplementary strategies.
- Build a robust Data Observability platform and ensure data integrity by writing unit and integration tests and exploring out-of-the-box solutions.
- Develop and maintain monitoring and observability solutions using tools such as Datadog, Nagios, Splunk, Prometheus / Graphana, or similar tools to ensure system uptime and performance.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of the system by designing and implementing fault-tolerant solutions.
- Maintain and enhance cloud cybersecurity by designing and implementing security controls and policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Automate cloud environment using DevOps tools such as CICD, Terraform, Packer, and Python.
- Administer cloud resources (Identity and Access Management) and maintain access control.
- Troubleshoot applications and Linux systems.
- Have a knowledge and understanding of network protocols (HTTP/S, SSH, SSL, DNS).
Requirements:
- Strong experience in designing and implementing highly available, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience in managing and administering repositories and maintaining code deployment and version control.
- Experience in developing and maintaining monitoring and observability solutions using tools such as Datadog or similar tools.
- Good understanding of cloud cybersecurity and experience in designing and implementing security controls and policies.
- Strong IaC experience leveraging Terraform.
- Strong experience in IAM administration and access control to cloud resources.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
- AWS or Azure Certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer).
