Job Description

2-3 months contract with Enfield Council

Job Summary:

  • Be the Council s expert on all crime and community safety issues.
  • Lead the work of Community Safety across Council and work effectively across organisational boundaries of all Council s Directorates and Community Safety Partnership.
  • Be the responsible liaison officer and lead on joint working with Police, Fire Services, Health, Probation, and local community within delivery of Community Safety work.
  • Lead and enable highly effective partnership working at both strategic and operational levels that supports agreed Community Safety Strategy and the work of Safer, Stronger Partnership Board and all its subgroup.
  • Support the Council and its key statutory partners to appropriately discharge their statutory responsibilities under the Community Safety Partnership legislative framework and ensure that the Partnership is effectively supported and responds to any new emergent changes within legislation and national policy as well as local needs.
  • Build and maintain highly effective relationships with relevant partners and elected members.
  • Be responsible for production and delivery of reports to the Crime and Safety Scrutiny Panel.

We are looking for an experienced professional within the field of Community Safety to lead this important area of work in Enfield.

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

Leading and supporting the work of Community Safety Partnership

Leading on delivery of all strategies under the umbrella of Community Safety partnership, for example readiness for Violence Reduction Duty, Violence against Women and Girls, Hate Crime Strategy and others

Working effectively with Police, Probation, Fire Service, Health and Council at both operational and strategic level to keep residents of Enfield safe

Maintaining positive relationship and effective collaboration with MOPAC, Home Office and VRU;

Leading on delivery, commissioning and grant funded programmes under the community safety, ensuring Enfield Council upholds terms and conditions of external grants

Supporting and advising elected members and Council departments in their work to proactively delivery effective community safety solutions.

Essential Experience Required:

Experience of effective budget management, grant administration and procurement.

Experience of producing high quality written work to a variety of audience (scrutiny reports, strategies, plans, needs assessments, presentations, funding bids, funding returns) and delivering credible presentations.

Essential Qualifications Required:

A degree or post- graduate qualification in Criminology, or Community Safety or other relevant qualification.
