Allen & York are delighted to be working with a statutory waste disposal authority, responsible for the disposal of waste collected by a number of London Boroughs.

Our client is looking for a commercially minded Strategic Development Manager to lead on exciting projects that aim to change the way waste is managed and improve sustainability by separating, collecting and disposing of waste in ways that cut down carbon emissions.

You will need to hold a degree or equivalent level qualification in an engineering, environmental or science discipline, with extensive experience of managing projects and recycling services, dealing with performance related issues and managing multiple and senior stakeholders. You'll be able to demonstrate your understanding of the financial and policy levers influencing recycling markets and have a strong understanding of relevant legislation for planning, permitting, environment, waste, plant and Health & Safety, contracts and procurement. With experience of working in waste management in either a private or public sector role, you'll have been involved with collection service design and mobilisation. An excellent communicator, you'll have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working collaboratively.

Experience of project strategy development, together with managing budgets and operational staff, including contractors, would be beneficial to this role.
