Job Description

3 months contract with Camden Council

Job Summary:

Oversight of Family Early Help s operational contribution to Camden s work with displaced and refugee families.

This will include management and leadership of an operational team of early help staff deployed in specific roles that support displaced and refugee families.

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

Lead and manage provision of community-based early help information, advice and guidance for displaced and refugee children and families, and for professionals who work in community-based settings supporting those children and families.

You will participate as a member of Family Support and Complex Families senior management team and contribute to the Service s strategic planning and policy and practice development on behalf of the Directorate and Division.

You will also be responsible for supporting early help workers across the Early Intervention and Prevention oversight of Family Early Help s operational contribution to Camden s work with displaced and refugee families.

You will achieve this through the development of policy, procedures and practice, effective application of all relevant standards (national and local), through the effective deployment of resources (human, physical and financial) and through the operational management and leadership of a team of early help staff deployed in specific roles to support displaced and refugee families.

Lead and manage work with Camden s Learning and Development service to ensure sufficient training that helps increase competence and confidence for the general family early help workforce in working with displaced and refugee families.

Work in partnership with all statutory and voluntary agencies and other stakeholders engaged in early or preventative help for displaced and refugee families as well as other managers within the Division and partners across Council.

Manage the budgets and other resources of the Early Help Displaced and Refugee Families service.

Develop Early Help provision for displaced and refugee families and inform relevant strategies and plans in response to changing demographics, legislation, national policy, local strategies and plans and to the views of the community and particularly of children and young people and their families.

Communicate and engage with a range of audiences, internal and external, users and potential users, as well as the wider community and represent the Early Help Displaced and Refugee Families service in a range of contexts.

Maintain a current awareness of evidence-based research and developments in high quality support for displaced and refugee families and disseminate this to early help workers, practitioners, and managers to inform their practice.

Deputise for the Head of Family Support and Complex Families as required.
