Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will focus on leading purchasing processes & activities for Lubrizol Life Sciences - facilitating and optimizing relationships between suppliers, manufacturing, direct reposts and functional teams to optimize landed cost of goods and services. Scope of responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Sourcing: Leveraging volumes & supplier relationships across multiple sites.
  • Procurement Process Standardization & Continuous improvement: Ensuring efficient, compliant and consistent processes between locations.
  • Spend Analytics & cost reduction: Actively measuring LLS spend to reduce landed cost and minimize Purchase Price Variance.
  • Tactical Execution of the Procure-to-Pay Process: Minimizing Supply Chain Disruptions in Lubrizol Life Sciences.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Improve and standardize procurement processes & procedures and ensure that they are consistently followed
  • Lead supplier selection process and negotiate contracts to support Lubrizol Life Sciences and its plants.Develop recommendations based on thorough understanding of options & tradeoffs.Develop action plans to mitigate implementation risks at suppliers and in Lubrizol Life Science.
  • Measure spending by supplier, tier level & commodity to continuously identify opportunities to optimize total landed cost. Monitor supplier performance, capacity and financial viability. Ensure that supplier expectations & service level agreements are met.
  • Manage creation & updating of supplier master data as well as ERP transactions sustaining the procure-to-pay process
  • Execute Multi Plant sourcing strategies, leveraging volume & relationships, to ensure continuity of supply and cost savings at or above targets.
  • Develop & manage relationships with Lubrizol functions and suppliers to resolve supplier issues
  • Build understanding strategic supplier capabilities, market intelligence and dynamics.Liase with engineering and commercial teams to support product innovation.

DESCRIPTION OF MARGINAL DUTIES:

  • Promote and ensure compliance of all safety regulations and adhere to Company policies/procedures.
  • Observe and promote Company standards and policies on ethics, safety, quality and productivity
  • Assign project numbers for approved CAPEX projects and enter into ERP system for correct purchasing and account coding and accurate project cost compilation.
  • Assign internal part numbers for subcomponents and materials and oversee entry into ERP system for correct purchasing account coding and accurate inventory receipts.Enter accurate unit of measurement conversions and supplier cross references for new parts and materials.Process the PCO for the new part number with complete documentation for Document Control.
  • Assign internal silkscreen numbers for custom silkscreens used in product manufacturing and enter into ERP system for correct purchasing account coding and inventory receipts.Process the PCO for the new silkscreen number with complete documentation for Document Control.
  • Review and approve Incoming purchase specifications for engineering changes directly related to new part numbers, material changes, subcontract changes or other changes that will directly impact the purchasing of the correct materials and subcomponents required for smooth manufacturing of the product.
  • Assign new supplier numbers and enter new supplier information into the ERP system.Work with Quality to develop and obtain all necessary documentation to approve new suppliers.
  • Maintain shared material list as needed in MS Outlook for use by Engineering and Sales personnel.
  • Understand and follow the SOP’s pertaining to the specific area.
  • Understand and follow the Work Instructions pertaining to the specific area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

DIRECT REPORTS:

  • 2-3 Direct Reports in Supply Chain including Receiving Personnel

HIRING GUIDELINES:(To perform job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Therequirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required/preferred).

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or Engineering preferred.
  • Advanced Certifications through Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) & / or American Purchasing Society (APS) or willingness to obtain within 2 years.
  • 5-10 years progressive experience preferably with medical devices or silicone products
  • Experience with Supplier Relationship Management, procure-to-pay & MRP processes in ERP (SAP, Oracle, QAD, etc)
  • Negotiation skills & experience are required.
  • Basic understanding of Purchasing/Inventory/Accounting/General Ledger/Accounts Payable concepts and how they are integrated and work together.
  • A team player that can relate to people at all levels of the organization and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in a manufacturing facility with significant exposure to a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Able to convert units of measurements, add, subtract multiplication and division
  • Blueprint reading (preferred)

This physical demand level for this job is considered light with occasional lifting between 10-25 pounds. Exposure to lifting more than 25 pounds is rare (if ever).

The employee may constantly be subject to static standing/sitting and use of hands to finger/handle/touch with occasional exposure to dynamic standing/walking, pushing/pulling (25lbs of force), shoulder to overhead lift/lower (catalogs on shelf), stoop, kneel, crouch or craw and reach above shoulders. The employee will rarely (if ever) be subject to floor to knuckle lift/lower, knuckle to shoulder lift/lower, sustained bending, repetitive bending or squatting, use foot/feet to operate machine and climb/balance.

The employee will occasionally be subject to travel on company business (supplier audits) with rare (if ever) exposure to risk of shock, working near moving mechanical parts, wet humid conditions, working in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold or heat, outdoor weather conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is considered moderate (business office, computers, printers and light traffic).

The employee will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as: safety glasses in the designated areas, hairnet/beard net, gloves when handling hot objects or solvents, jumpsuit, earplugs (when needed) on production floor.

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT/COMPUTER SOFTWARE:

The employee will constantly use QAD (or similar ERP system) including MRP planning with frequent use PC with Microsoft Office products and occasional use of PDF Form filler software, internet skills for supplier/product searches and other typical office equipment.
