OVERVIEW:

The Supply Chain Director and position provides the strategic leadership to ensure the development and subsequent implementation of the company s supply chain department. The Supply Chain Director provides leadership to all aspects of the supply chain to include, strategy, manufacturing, delivery and logistics, purchasing, warehousing, activation and planning. The Supply Chain Director works to minimize shortages and keep costs down by making recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations.

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:

  • Manages all aspects of purchasing, production planning and scheduling, inventory, shipping and receiving
  • Designs and executes strategies and plans to meet company s short-term and long-term supply chain management requirements
  • Make recommendations to improve productivity, quality and efficiency of operations
  • Drives leadership development activities within department
  • Works to improve the Supply Chain Process
  • Assists in analyzing contractual commitments, customer specifications and other data to plan and develop logistic program activities from conceptual stage through life cycle of product.
  • Ensure the supply chain organization design is optimized to meet the business needs and are compliant with CAF s standards and procedures
  • Manage all relevant supply relationships and contracts accordingly
  • Oversee and interface with project managers and account managers to ensure that all launch timelines are met
  • Ensure inventories of all products are maintained at predefined policy levels
  • Work closely with purchasing to ensure that all imported bulk, raw materials, and packaging components required to meet customers and site supply schedules and availability
  • Direct and analyze all elements of the supply chain and make recommendations as to how the process can be optimized
  • Design, implement, or oversee product take back or reverse logistics programs to ensure products are recycled, reused, or responsibly disposed
  • Provide cost savings recommendations and ensure spending is within budget
  • Establish performance standards for all staff and ensure that staff is held accountable for said performance standards
  • Create and track key performance indicators for supply chain, warehouse, logistics activation and planning to drive improvement
  • QMS Supply Process owner and shall own any other duties linked to it

TRAINING/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • A minimum of a four year degree from an accredited university, a Master s Degree is preferred with at least 10 years work experience in planning, warehouse management, logistics, purchasing, and activation
  • Preferred experience in the rail industry
  • Extensive understanding of supply chain operations
