Job Description

Litigation Paralegal




Responsibilities:


  • Summarize legal documents
  • Ability to perform legal research
  • Ability to prepare drafts of initial pleadings, discovery documents, motions, briefs, and other legal correspondence relating to litigation
  • Check legal forms for accuracy
  • Organize case research, notes and legal documents
  • Gather and analyze research data
  • Perform related work as required



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:


  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication and writing skills
  • Candidates should have an enthusiastic team player attitude and a high work ethic
  • Proficient in legal research
  • Ability to interact at a professional level with clients and attorneys
  • Ability to prioritize and work under a tight schedule
  • In depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles
  • Ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy
  • Knowledge of e-discovery tools is preferred
  • Trial prep and/or trial experience preferred



Education and Experience Requirements:


  • Undergraduate degree and paralegal certificate are preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of paralegal experience in the areas of insurance defense, products liability, construction and/or commercial litigation


Job Duties and Responsibilities Prepare documents and checklists for major corporate transactions (under supervision of attorneys). Assist with due diligence. Work with clients and opposing counsel in deal process. Assist in organizing entities, including formation certificates, tax forms, operating agreements and board resolutions. Assist with SEC reports and filings. Job Related Experience Minimum 4 years of experience. SEC filing and/or commercial lending experience preferred but not required. Exceptional multi-tasking skills with ability to quickly prioritize to meet deadlines. Excellent research skills. Exceptional verbal and written communication, including with clients. Highly organized self-starter able to work with little direction. Private law firm experience. Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) and web-based applications.
