Job Description

We are looking to fill a full time EHS Manager position with a manufacturer located in the greater Asheville, NC area. This position is about 60% Environmental and 40% Safety

Salary Range: $120k to $130k per year. Relocation assistance is available.

Must Haves:

About 5 years of experience as EHS Manager

EHS experience within MANUFACTURING environments

Strong Environmental experience along with Safety experience

This position has a significant impact upon the environmental, personal safety, process safety performance and culture of the facility. Ensuring the plant is not only operating within all applicable regulations but driving continuous improvement is critical to the success of all our operations. This position is the on-site process safety expert at the facility and has 1 direct report.

Key job responsibilities:

Assist with identifying HSE risk and effectively setting up processes to manage and mitigate those risks.

Conduct regular audits to identify and correct any gaps in the plant s ability to operate under OSHA s PSM Regulations and IEC 6479 Standards (EX classified environments).

Participate in government, industry and community committees to represent the interests of the facility by communicating with authorities as needed.

Establish key performance metrics for HSE areas for the site and ensure effective systems for reporting and feedback.

Oversee training programs that ensure management team are carrying out training obligations effectively such that employees exhibit knowledge and understanding of EHS requirements.

Perform and document monthly safety inspections, identify unsafe work practices, and recommend corrective actions.

Reports near misses. Prepares A3 forms for incidents and significant near misses per the Reporting Procedures.

Coordinate all site safety related workers compensations activities including communications between employee and HR, return to work assignments, etc.

Manages site waste including treatment system and associated inspections and documentation.

Maintains safety equipment supply and availability including PPE

Oversees regulatory compliance activities, including necessary reporting requirements for OSHA, EPA, DOT, DG, DHS

Support implementation and conformance to company s Health and Safety Management System

Maintain site SDS documentation

Maintains safety and environmental metrics in the EXP database

Maintains, prepares, and submits necessary permits related to safety and environmental

Champions a safety focused culture

Chairs Safety Committee

Assist with ISO conformance standards & other registrations obtained by assigned location(s)

Lead internal audits necessary to maintain compliance with PSM standards.

Other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned

Education and competencies:

Undergraduate degree or targeted related training within manufacturing industry is required.

Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Must be computer proficient, especially strong in MS Excel

Strong emphasis on the ability to identify safety and environmental hazards or potential hazards and recommend actions.
