The Client
Our client is a world leader in providing specialist field joint coating services to the onshore and offshore services for all major pipeline construction contractors (Oil & Gas) who have earned a reputation for quality, performance, reliability in the services of the company.
The Role
To develop & manage a world class Procurement function that is responsible for ensuring all demands for products and services are met in an efficient and most cost-effective manner. Building a strong team and supplier base with agreed service levels taking into consideration lead times and inventory
- Own Supplier relationships on behalf of the business and negotiate expected Service Level Agreements including but not limited to; Pricing, Rebates, Lead Times; Warranties; NDAs, Freight costs etc
- Support GSM global policy and ensure 100% compliance for PIH.
- Lead Quarterly Supplier Reviews to develop business opportunities; Review what is / is not working and expand / reduce working with suppliers.
- Lead Supplier Audit activity as part of RFT Culture within SCM.
- Look at areas of supply risk and eliminate (single source material, critical suppliers, etc.) review Make versus Buy strategy.
- Market Intel
- Keep up to date with market pricing and ensure the business is using latest pricings (materials, etc.)
- New ideas support doing things differently with input from suppliers.
- Gain visibility of competitor strategies and suppliers.
- Support Plan to Outperform Team in quest for increased wallet share; business diversification and equipment automation activities.
- Support Business WCT Initiatives with focus on Consignment stocks Work with suppliers to introduce and manage.
- JIT help develop a process to support JIT for build / mobilisation. Measurable On-time delivery.
- E&O look at selling opportunities.
Education
- Ideally qualified or working towards full CIPS certification
- Minimum of 5 GCSE (including Mathematics and English Language)
- Engineering / Electrical qualifications an advantage but not essential
Work Experience Required
- Minimum of 3 years working within a purchasing environment ideally within an engineering
- Able to prioritise own workload and coordinate suppliers lead times and deliveries
- Good overall commercial awareness
- Knowledge of stock control procedures and computerized inventory systems
- An understanding of the principles of LEAN
- Knowledge of processing purchases and supply chain related issues
- Experience of Word & Excel processes
- Strong people and leadership skills
- Driving license
