JOB SUMMARY
Under the general guidance of the physicians/providers performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasonographic procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Education
- Graduate of AMA approved School.
- Preferred: Registered or Registry eligible

- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
- Perioperative Nurse (CNOR)

- Required: Registered in one or more specialty areas.
- Primary Source Verification: American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Receives patients, explains method of procedure and makes sure patient is comfortable.
- Provides patient services to all ages using imaging modalities.
- Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices.
- Maintains equipment and supplies and organizes work area.
- Keeps accurate records, helps with scheduling of the ultrasound and keeps patient flow smooth.
- Follows established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.
- Willing and able to demonstrate appropriate core competencies annually or as requested.
- Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with department procedures for one or more of the following examinations: abdominal, obstetrical/gynecological, and vascular and echo cardiographs.
- Performs all ultrasound procedures associated with the department, including development of the films and preparation of contrast media, as appropriate.
- Performs all quality assurance protocols associated with equipment.
- Performs all quality control and quality assurance functions required for VIS examinations.
- Orients patients to procedure, obtains patient history and verifies that informed consent is signed.
- Transports patients to and from department.
- Meets responsibility of on-call scheduling of department.
- Files and retrieves radiology files.
- Completes quality assurance studies as directed.
- Completes all necessary documentation in patient and department files including patient rosters and monthly reports.
- Enters HIS/RIS/PAC's data into computer systems.
- Completes quality assurance studies as directed.
- Maintains current knowledge appropriate to tests.
- Assists other members of the department to assure that quality patient care is provided.

- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Completes annual educational requirements.
