For our client an international pharmaceutical company based in the Basel region, we are looking for a Communications Manager

Background

In Roche s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world s toughest unmet Healthcare needs. This position is located in Therapeutic Modalities (TMo) - the global function in pRED responsible for designing and developing novel molecules for the pRED discovery and early development portfolio. The Communications Manager will work in close partnership with the TMo Senior Communications Business Partner, the TMo Comms Community and the TMo
leadership circles to provide key communications support to the approximately 750 colleagues across four sites spread geographically in Switzerland, Germany and Denmark.

The perfect candidate

The department is looking for a person with several years of work experience within the communications area. In addition, the person should have digital techniques skills as well as the ability to implement them for new processes. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker, able to translate complex topics into simple, can lead and take ownership, has a passion for science and strong understanding of healthcare, Pharma or Biotech industries and is a strong team player. This is a senior role and has been opened due to replacement.

Tasks

Development and implementation of TMo
communication programs, plans and material to drive the strategic
requirements of TMo in support of:

  • Delivering the scientific portfolio

  • Key capability building initiatives

  • Internal culture shifts to support our ambition

  • Change strategies and activities

  • Employee engagement

  • Ownership, development and delivery of the TMo and pRED editorial and channel management strategies with a focus on digital and social channels.

  • Building strong networks as a critical member of the TMo Communication Community and global pRED internal communications network to ensure all activities are appropriately positioning pRED in all Roche corporate communications; and ensuring alignment of communication strategies across pRED and Roche.

  • Participate in various communications squads to develop and implement internal communication plans on key, priority initiatives (in partnership with the pRED internal communications network) to help pRED deliver on their business objectives.

  • Advising and educating key internal TMo stakeholders on good practice communications to enable communications capability building and self-sufficiency in teams where required.

Requirements

  • Min. Bachelor's degree or relevant certification in Communications, Public Relations (or related field) or Business; alternatively, you have a scientific education with very strong communication experience and background
  • 8+ years of experience in corporate, organisational or internal communications (preferably in the biotech, pharmaceutical or healthcare industry; with experience of communications business partnering)
  • Expert understanding of communications, content and channel strategies, employee engagement, change communication and experience in leading and implementing the development of strategic communication programs with demonstrated impact
  • Proven professional communications skills and outstanding digital communications competency
  • Excellent interpersonal and partnering skills: proven abilities to work effectively and efficiently in cross-functional, network environments
  • Experience in project management and working on cross-functional projects, both with internal communication teams and in collaboration with external agencies
  • Strong team player, highly collaborative with a can-do attitude, solution-oriented, independent thinker with a growth mindset
  • Self-motivated, able to thrive in a non-hierarchical, self-organising environment, where teams form around projects and initiatives
  • Excellent English writing skills (native equivalent), German language skills are an advantage
