Job Description

Senior Interior Designer- Luxury Residential



We are looking for a talented Senior Interior Designer with 5+ years in luxury residential design (single-family homes) to join our growing residential team. As part of a team with technical prowess and great design integrity, we offer the opportunity to work on high-profile luxury projects in an exciting, progressive, studio environment. Our ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and growth mindset, great communication skills, and be team-oriented with ability and skills to successfully lead a team.


The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of hands-on experience in executing and managing all aspects of a luxury residential interior project from conception to completion, including new home and whole house renovation. Additionally, the Senior Interior Designer will have proficient technical skills, including AutoCAD and SketchUp (a plus), and have worked with multimillion dollar budgets, custom furniture/furnishings, and high-profile clients.

What you will be doing:


Management and Supervision:



  • Serve as Client liaison with regards to every aspect of Project Management (as further specified herein below). Manage the Client / Company relationship.

  • Collaborate with Principal and team on assigned projects, and manage the execution of project specifications with support staff of Firm and subcontractors.

  • Interface with vendors and subcontractors as necessary to coordinate production and project schedules. Prepare any necessary Materials Selection and Room Finish Schedules to facilitate coordination of project.

  • Manage Job-site labor workforce as necessary which includes Firm employees as well as Subcontractors.


Design and Drafting:



  • Design, specify, draft and integrate all elements of interior design and architecture including, but not limited to, furniture plans, architectural details including ceilings, walls, floors, window heights, columns, millwork and other built-ins, kitchens and bathrooms and other construction documents.

  • Design, specify, and draft custom furniture as required. Obtain necessary subcontractor quotes for said furniture.

  • Specify fabrics, floor coverings, wall coverings, lighting, window treatments, furniture and any other items as necessary per project requirements. Serve as project lead or collaborate with Principal as appropriate on project.

  • Research and shop as necessary for project components. Develop conceptual designs, create mock-ups and complete with drawings and renderings as necessary.

  • Draft by hand, in CAD or direct Firm CAD Dept. Staff for furniture plans, custom designs, construction drawings and renderings as required.

  • Work closely with Principal on specific project design elements.


Project Management:



  • Review complete project documentation to determine full scope of work, completion of schedules, and any other relevant items. Confer with Principal for clarification, as necessary.

  • Maintain continual two-way communication with Principal and project team regarding project and Client details. Keep all interested parties apprised of significant events.

  • Identify, receive and document problems. Consult with Principal on solutions, handle and follow-up. Review problem status reports for Principal and/or Client as necessary.

  • Meet and communicate with Clients as necessary to complete project components.

  • Visit job site as needed.

  • Travel as necessary to complete project tasks.

  • Serve as liaison with vendors to provide direction and/or to obtain pertinent information in order to create detailed proposals for Client knowledge and approval. This includes preparation of necessary spreadsheets required to disseminate selections to client and processing of detailed proposals (prepared by Purchasing Department) to client.

  • Track and process expenses according to procedure.

What you will bring along:



  • 5+ years of experience in luxury residential interior design and project management

  • Must provide a PORTFOLIO that showcases many years of design experience + highlights finished photography of high-profile single-family residential projects

  • Ability to manage a design team and have proven Leadership skills

  • Ability to communicate and influence as well as show courage and gratitude as a team leader

  • Self-awareness and learning agility

  • Auto-Cad proficient (Sketch-Up a plus)

  • Proven ability to manage multiple, luxury residential projects from conception to completion

  • Experience with FF+E budgets of $800K+ and knowledge of construction specifications

  • Experience with new construction and renovations

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills

  • Strong familiarity of luxury FF&E brands

  • Worked with custom furniture, fabricators and workrooms

  • Worked directly with high-net-worth customers, Architects, Vendors, Contractors, and Consultants

  • Excellent oral, written and graphic communication skills

  • Ability to pull own weight and contribute in a creative, team and service-oriented environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

  • Resilience in coping with demanding clients

  • Ability to work independently without the need of supervision
