Job Description

We have 5 opportunities for outstanding Graduates to join us at Ground Control in September 2023.

This a unique and fun graduate programme. Working within our fast paced operational and specialist teams, you ll gain extensive company wide experience, developing your technical and management skills across 5 rotational field-based placements and 4 hybrid / office central services placements.

Your training journey will take you into placements based in the field across Grounds Maintenance, Winter Maintenance, Arboriculture - Rail, Utility - Arboriculture and Landscape Construction as well as hybrid / office-based placements in our Business Development, Client Services, Finance and People teams.

This comprehensive progamme will allow you to get a full operational understanding of our fast-growing business throughout your first 18 months in the business. At the end of the programme you will be placed as an Assistant Manager into one of our operational teams.

You will also be part of our Leadership academy programme which is a 1-year behavioural development programme where you will learn all the soft skills that you need to lead people for the first time in the future.

What You ll Achieve;

This exciting 18 month programme will cover placements both working out in the field and also from the office and home.

You'll be embedded into our operational teams during each rotation, engaging in all aspects of Ground Control's services as well as learning how to deliver outstanding customer service to our clients. From this you will develop firm foundations in our business which will be invaluable in the future.

This role requires travel between customer locations, as well as spending some time within our HQ in Essex or working from home, so you'll need a full driving licence and a really flexible attitude to working sometimes staying away from home.

You ll build strong relationships with all stakeholders from field operatives to board level executives whilst having the opportunity to bring new ideas and create solutions. You must have a passion for innovation and be able to comfortably embrace change.

We like to win and as a member of our operations team you ll be an integral part of that success too!

Who we re looking for;

We are flexible on degree disciplines for this programme but we have found in the past that it is particularly attractive to graduate in the following subjects;

  • Geography / Environmental Science / Ecology
  • Construction
  • Business and Management
  • Sport Science / Coaching

Regardless of your degree discipline you must be;

  • A graduate who can passionately prove their commitment to growing a long term career within Operations Management or Contract Management.
  • Someone committed to delivering quality on time, in all weathers, within budget and with integrity - you must be prepared to get your hands dirty on some of your field based placements - full PPE will be provided!
  • Someone dedicated to moving forwards, working collaboratively, embracing opportunity and committed to supporting our growth and our business goals.
  • A people person who is respectful, resilient and agile in a constantly changing environment.
  • A 'doer', eager to learn everything they can and become an influential operations leader of the future
  • Someone who embraces a culture of continuous learning, comfortable learning new systems and creating new ways of working
