Duration: 3+ months

Working days and timing: Shift 1st Day 5x8-Hour

Job Description:

• Under the direction of Pathology Labs Supervisor, provides quality customer service & clerical support by transcribing dictated or handwritten Surgical Pathology, Autopsy, Hematopathology, Neuropathology, Calculi and placenta reports.
• Assists with slide filing, distribution of results to Clinicians, uploading of reports to LIS, follow up on return of UCSD materials sent to outside facilities for additional testing and continuity of care, return of materials to originating facility (generally requested by UCSD Clinicians for patient's establishing care at UCSD).
• Answers the telephone and takes messages. Ensures intra-service mail distribution. Maintains inventory of office supplies.

Minimum Requirements:

• 2 Years of Experience in Transcription That Includes Medical Terminology.

Preferred Requirements:

• 2 or more years of experience in transcription that includes pathology
• Certified medical transcription (CMT) status
• Experience in a hospital setting
• Knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices
• Excellent use of English, grammar and punctuation
• Ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles
• Computer savy with ability to navigate MS word, Olympus
• Knowledge of power path is helpful
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
