Electric Propulsion System Design Engineer (full-time, Sr., Netherlands)

Maeve Aerospace is a Delft-based aerospace start-up with a mission to enable 100% sustainable regional air travel and in turn, improve airlines' flight operating costs.

To ensure zero-emission regional air travel, Maeve aims to deliver the world's first all-electric zero-emission aircraft, seating 44 passengers with a flight range of 550 km, by 2029.

In other words, we make aviation greener, simpler and cheaper.

Tasks

Maeve Aerospace is looking for an experienced Electric Propulsion Engineer to assume the architect role for the Electric Powertrain System.

As Propulsion Engineer in this role, you will be in charge of designing, developing, and testing Maeve s electric propulsion system, including electric motors, motor controllers, power management system, and EWIS.

You will take responsibility for the design, development, qualification and verification of the integrated electric powertrain system. You will collaborate closely with the Battery Systems department, Structures & Aircraft Design department, and the Office of Airworthiness department.

As Electric Propulsion System Design Engineer, you will be tasked to:

• Define, communicate and establish a technology development vision for the aircraft Electric Propulsion System;
• Act as main architect and owner of the Electric Propulsion System from the energy output from the battery pack up till the shaft power;
• Establishing conditions for new product development such as; optimised processes, key technologies, new design software and proven techniques/methodologies;
• Supporting the recruitment department with job profile input on hiring & attracting best in class Engineering talent;
• Support in the development of Maeve s propulsion system ground testbed and definition of the hardware-in-the-loop test plans.

Requirements

For the position of Electric Propulsion System Design Engineer, Maeve is looking for applicants with the following experience, qualifications and skills necessary to fulfil the role:

• BSc or MSc in aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics, or electrical engineering;
• Minimum 5-7 years experience in electric propulsion system design with special focus in the fields of Electric Vehicle, EVTOL, Electric Aircraft powertrain or other high-power electric motor design roles;
• Ability to work in a European company with a valid EU work visa is preferred but not mandatory. The (international) applicant should be willing and able to relocate.
• Hands-on experience with design, development, integration, and testing of electric propulsion systems;
• Experience in selection and management of third-party vendors and suppliers (optional)
• Proven Systems Engineering track record
