Description:
- Performs production assembly operations according to specifications, for more complex components and/or whole goods.
- This unique opportunity requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with various hand tools including crimp tools, soldering irons, ultrasonic welders and drills.
- You will need to be able to carry out instructions written, oral or in the form of pictures and drawings in order to complete your assignments.
- You will work with engineers, mechanics and technicians to investigate routings on current products and use that information to break down documentation or marked-up drawings to deliver the end product.
Shift:
- Shift 1- Hours will be 7-4:30 M-F
Responsibilities:
- Under minimal supervision, performs all phases of wiring harness fabrication such as, but not limited to planning, cutting, splicing, stripping, crimping, lugging, tying, soldering, dipping, ultrasonic welding and assembling.
- Verification of fit up on vehicles or mechanical assemblies relative to the placement of electrical and mechanical components.
- Operate semi-automatic equipment such as wire cutters, crimp tools, presses, wire twisters and wire strippers.
- Conducts functional and continuity tests of wire harnesses and cable assemblies for accuracy and quality. Also performs visual and dimensional inspections of in-process assemblies and finished products.
- Will be required to disassemble, modify, refurbish/rework and re-install parts on products for fit up during the design cycle.
- Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Qualification and Skills:
- 3 or more years in an assembly or production environment in or related to the automotive, truck/bus, marine or off-highway vehicle industry.
- Previous experience in harness manufacturing or related fields that includes use of digital multi-meters, continuity testers and/or other diagnostic tools is preferred.
- Experience using small power tools as well as a variety of hand tools like crimpers, strippers, pliers, etc.
- Motivated and detail oriented with good communication skills and a strong mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to work independently, yet function as part of a team.
- Proficiency in basic math skills and use of computer to look up or search for component information.
- Must be able to work from oral communication, read written drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, schematics and other documentation as required.
- Ideal candidate will be able to distinguish colored wires for accurate assembly purposes.
