To identify, quantify, evaluate, manage and optimise the mineral resource for Implats as a major platinum producer.
- Scientifically identify and forecast ore body/mineral reserves and formations per geological area
- Ensure effective/value-adding geological modelling is maintained, inclusive of forecast updates
- Provide professional advice and integrated communication to production & other mining disciplines for present and future mining
- Facilitate integrated participation in the planning and geological exploration of new mining areas
- Constantly monitor geological conditions to ensure efficient, economical and progressive mining
- Guide and manage the geological function of an operating unit, inclusive of managing Geologists/contractors effectively
- Compile standardized geological reports for management information purposes (manage all geological data properly)
- Effectively manage core drilling operations
Requirements
- BSc Honours degree in Geology is essential
- Minimum of 1 3 Years Underground mining geology experience is essential
- Registration as "professional scientist" @ SA Council for Natural Scientific Professionals will be preferable
- Valid medical certificate or be medical fit in order to obtain such a certificate
An undergraduate qualification (B Tech/Bachelors / Honours Bachelor s degree or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is essential Possession of GCC Certificate or studying towards will be advantageous Strong operational experience (more than 10 years) in the application of asset management principles in an underground trackless mining environment is essential Minimum of three years working experience as a PMA Officer will be advantageous
