Geologist

To identify, quantify, evaluate, manage and optimise the mineral resource for Implats as a major platinum producer.

• Scientifically identify and forecast ore body/mineral reserves and formations per geological area
  
• Ensure effective/value-adding geological modelling is maintained, inclusive of forecast updates
  
• Provide professional advice and integrated communication to production & other mining disciplines for present and future mining
  
• Facilitate integrated participation in the planning and geological exploration of new mining areas
  
• Constantly monitor geological conditions to ensure efficient, economical and progressive mining
  
• Guide and manage the geological function of an operating unit, inclusive of managing Geologists/contractors effectively
  
• Compile standardized geological reports for management information purposes (manage all geological data properly)
  
• Effectively manage core drilling operations
  

Requirements

• BSc Honours degree in Geology is essential
  
• Minimum of 1 3 Years Underground mining geology experience is essential
  
• Registration as "professional scientist" @ SA Council for Natural Scientific Professionals will be preferable
  
• Valid medical certificate or be medical fit in order to obtain such a certificate
