Stable and growing property management company seeking a Controller to perform a wide variety of accounting, analytical, and reporting functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares, maintains, and analyzes all financial statements, accounting records, allocation schedules, account reconciliations, and additional management reports
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements and communicates a system of controls over accounting transactions.
- Oversees month-end closing, the production of regular and periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company s performance.
- Participates in the annual budget and forecasts; monitors and reports significant budget differences to management.
- Provides ad hoc and scheduled reporting and financial analysis to internal departments.
- Works closely with external auditors and provides needed information for various financial audits.
- Files quarterly and annual reports within required or regulatory deadlines.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Responsible for the operations of the Accounting Department
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Property Management/real estate industry experience required
- Minimum 5 years of general Accounting experience required and working knowledge of GAAP
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics preferred
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, Yardi preferred
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have intermediate knowledge of MS Office and advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Knowledge of finance tools for affordable housing development, particularly Low Income Housing Tax Credits, gap financing, HOME, and others preferred
