Job Description

Position Summary

The Translation Supervisor in one or more of Spanish, French or German languages leads all aspects of written translations in the news/media department. This includes contributing to the accurate translation of documents, participating in the development of translation policies and strategies and carry out the implementation, creating and updating team resources, managing the workflow of all projects, providing team trainings and ensuring timely communication with project stakeholders.



Requirements summary

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all translation projects to include accurate, grammatically correct and culturally appropriate translations; accurate record keeping through use of the language tracker.
  • Monitor and manage project workflow and throughput; communicate regularly with clients and members of the Translation Services Department.
  • Coordinate multiple translation pipeline with translators, reviewers, and publishers.
  • Establish and manage the department benchmarks related to writing standards and project throughput; regularly review metrics and provide updates to leadership
  • Coordinate the process of evaluating relevant skills of potential translators, assign translation projects, and supervise work.
  • Manage physical and electronic archives of translations, as well as detailed lists and copyrights.
  • Regularly translate and proofread projects based on volume; serve as the final reviewer in Spanish, French or German translations prior to returning to client
  • Lead team meetings as well as translation feedback and training sessions in group and one-on-one settings
  • Maintain current list of reliable translation freelancers; manages relationships and projects when outsourcing is necessary
  • Explore, implement, and manage technologies that automate the production process of translations
  • Attend the client premises in a daily basis
  • Prepare reports as needed by the management

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Fluency in Arabic and the target language (Spanish or French or German).
  • Live in Doha/Qatar
  • University degree or equivalent from an accredited institution; additional experience will be considered in lieu of a post school degree.
  • At least five years of experience translating written documents from Arabic to Spanish, French or German; news/media experiencestrongly preferred.
  • Skilled at communicating, both orally and in writing in Arabic, English and target languages.
  • Understanding of linguistics and different cultures.
  • Skilled in adjusting to rapidly changing circumstances.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and skilled at exercising initiative within the parameter of company policies and procedures.
  • Exceptional commitment to confidentiality as per company interpretation policies.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and Google workspace applications.
  • Ability to operate common office equipment including, but not limited to, computer and telephone system.
  • Valid drivers license with car is preferable.
