As a Vacuum Sewage Operator you will be responsible for the operation maintenance and monitoring of vacuum sewage systems to ensure the efficient transport of wastewater. Your role will be crucial in minimizing downtime and service interruptions while maintaining high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and Maintain Vacuum Sewer Systems: Ensure the efficient and reliable operation of vacuum sewer systems minimizing downtime and preventing service disruptions.
- Regular Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of vacuum stations and collection tanks identifying potential wear damage or system failures early and addressing them before they escalate.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance on pumps valves and other critical machinery following established safety protocols to ensure proper functionality.
- Troubleshooting: Resolve operational issues in realtime by identifying and diagnosing system malfunctions using diagnostic tools to ensure system integrity.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all inspections maintenance repairs and operational activities to comply with local regulations and organizational standards.
- Collaboration with Engineering and Maintenance Teams: Work closely with the engineering and maintenance teams to suggest improvements to the vacuum sewer system and implement best practices to enhance system performance.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency calls assess the situation and implement appropriate remedial actions to restore service quickly and efficiently.
- Training: Provide training to new operators on the safe and effective use of equipment safety procedures and operational protocols contributing to a culture of safety and operational excellence.
- Environmental Compliance: Monitor and enforce environmental regulations and safety practices ensuring the system operates within legal and safety standards. Report any incidents or potential noncompliance issues to the appropriate authorities.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of spare parts and necessary supplies working with suppliers to ensure timely procurement and replacement of critical components.
Qualifications :
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification in wastewater treatment or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience in operating and maintaining vacuum sewage systems with a strong understanding of wastewater management principles and industry standards.
- Skills:
- Strong problemsolving and troubleshooting abilities with the capability to address issues in highpressure timesensitive situations.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written to effectively relay information to both technical and nontechnical personnel.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members in a highfunctioning fastpaced environment.
- Strong organizational skills to ensure documentation and records are maintained accurately and consistently.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform manual labor including lifting heavy equipment working in confined spaces and being oncall as needed with physical stamina to manage the demands of the job.
- Commitment to Safety: A proactive approach to workplace safety and environmental stewardship with the ability to recognize and mitigate potential risks or hazards in both operational and emergency settings.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends as required by the demands of the job.
