The Payroll Assistant supports the payroll department in the accurate and timely processing of employee salaries wages bonuses deductions and other compensation. This role involves maintaining payroll records updating employee information ensuring compliance with tax regulations and providing administrative support to the payroll team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in processing biweekly monthly or other periodic payrolls for all employees.
- Ensure that timesheets overtime vacation and sick leave records are accurate.
- Calculate and input wage rates benefits and deductions.
- Verify employee data such as personal information and bank account details.
- Ensure compliance with federal state and local tax regulations related to payroll.
- Assist in preparing reports related to taxes deductions and benefits.
- Generate and distribute payrollrelated reports such as pay stubs and tax summaries.
- Use payroll software and tools to process payroll and manage records.
- Ensure the system is updated with any changes to tax rates deductions or employee status.
- Assist in the implementation of new payroll technologies or improvements
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in HR finance Business Administration MIS or a related field is a plus.
Experience:
- Previous experience in payroll HR or finance is preferred but not always required.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g. ADP QuickBooks SAP etc.).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
- Familiarity with payroll regulations and tax laws.
