Job Summary:
The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the companys financial operations managing the accounting department and ensuring the accurate preparation of financial statements. This role involves analyzing financial performance managing budgets and collaborating with senior management to support the organizations strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Accounting:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements (balance sheet income statement cash flow etc.).
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles (GAAP IFRS etc.) and financial regulations.
- Review and approve journal entries reconciliations and monthend close processes.
- Maintain general ledger and ensure it is updated and reconciled regularly.
- Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders including board members and auditors.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts collaborating with department heads to gather input.
- Monitor actual financial performance against the budget and analyze variances.
- Provide insights on financial trends and potential risks or opportunities.
- Assist with financial planning and support longterm strategic financial goals.
- Cash Flow Management:
- Oversee the management of cash flow including accounts payable accounts receivable and treasury operations.
- Ensure sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs and advise on cash management strategies.
- Track financial KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to ensure financial health.
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organizations assets.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws accounting standards and corporate governance regulations.
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and prepare necessary documentation.
- Ensure adherence to company policies procedures and accounting guidelines.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Manage and lead a team of accountants and finance professionals.
- Provide training and mentoring to junior staff and help develop their skills.
- Ensure the teams performance aligns with the overall financial strategy and objectives of the organization.
- Review and approve team members work to maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance.
- Strategic Financial Analysis & Decision Support:
- Analyze financial data and provide actionable insights to senior management to guide business decisions.
- Assist in evaluating potential investments costcutting measures and business expansion strategies.
- Support senior management in the financial modeling of new business ventures or projects.
- Taxation & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure timely filing of tax returns and compliance with local state and federal tax regulations.
- Prepare for and manage tax audits and implement strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
- Maintain awareness of changes in tax laws and accounting standards to ensure the organization remains compliant.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Propose process improvements in accounting practices financial systems and reporting procedures.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in financial management and accounting technology.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (Masters or MBA preferred).
- Certifications: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) CMA (Certified Management Accountant) or equivalent certifications (preferred).
- Experience: At least 57 years of experience in accounting or finance with at least 23 years in a managerial role.
