Position Summary:
The Chief Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of the hotel’s physical facilities including HVAC plumbing electrical and other essential systems. This role ensures safety functionality and aesthetics to maintain a comfortable and appealing guest environment. As a department head the Chief Engineer leads a team of maintenance staff ensuring timely repairs preventive maintenance and compliance with all safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Facility Maintenance & Operations
- Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of all hotel facilities including guest rooms public areas backofhouse areas and external grounds.
- Perform routine inspections of hotel facilities to ensure optimal operating standards.

Team Leadership
- Recruit train supervise and evaluate the engineering and maintenance team.
- Develop schedules assign tasks and manage performance to ensure high productivity and quality standards.

Preventive Maintenance
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to minimize equipment failure and extend the life of hotel systems.
- Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance activities ensuring minimal impact on guest experience.

Budget Management
- Manage department budget and expenses controlling costs while maintaining service standards.
- Procure necessary equipment and materials within budget guidelines.

Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations including health safety and environmental standards.
- Oversee fire safety equipment and conduct regular safety drills in collaboration with the hotel’s security team.

Energy Management
- Monitor and optimize energy usage implementing energysaving initiatives to reduce operational costs.
- Recommend and implement upgrades to equipment and systems to improve energy efficiency.

Project Management
- Plan and oversee renovation and upgrade projects coordinating with contractors and suppliers as needed.
- Ensure projects are completed on time within scope and budget.

Guest Satisfaction
- Respond to guest and staff maintenance requests promptly ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Address guest concerns and complaints related to maintenance issues with a focus on delivering superior service.
