Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking two strong technical consultants to join our team and contribute to impactful projects aimed at driving economic and social transformation in Africa and the Middle East. Our focus is particularly on empowering young people, women, and marginalized communities. The successful candidates will build upon our existing work in human development, specifically in social sector financing and youth empowerment, while also addressing related areas such as disaster finance. This role will involve generating innovative consulting projects that create tangible value in our target regions.

As a technical consultant, you will take on a senior leadership role responsible for the design, delivery, and quality assurance of economics-based diagnostic work. Your contributions will be critical in developing projects that align with our mission of promoting economic and social development. Key responsibilities include collaborating with decision-makers and stakeholders to identify impactful intervention opportunities and strategic partnerships.

Desired candidate profile

Qualifications:

• A Master’s or Ph.D. in Economics, Econometrics, or a related field from a reputable institution.
• At least 6 years of experience in economic research and analysis, preferably within a consulting environment.
• Strong proficiency in econometric modeling, statistical analysis, and data visualization tools (e.g., Stata, R, Python).
• Proven expertise in applying economic theory to real-world problems, with a focus on sector performance and diagnostic tools such as budget analysis, Public Expenditure Reviews (PERs), Public Expenditure Tracking Surveys (PETs), Benefit Incidence Analysis, and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of distilling complex concepts into clear reports.
• Demonstrated leadership and project management abilities, with a strong track record of prioritizing tasks and managing client expectations.
• A commitment to delivering high-quality work and continuously improving methodologies and approaches.
• Experience in international development, public policy, or regulatory economics is an advantage.
• Fluency in English and proficiency in either Arabic or French, depending on the position.
