This is a high impact role that sits at the heart of our engineering organization. This role will be responsible for the team behind the core Penny Procure product and will report to the CTO.Your end users will be procurement professionals who will use the product you build day in day out. As such you should be immensely pionate about interacting with our customers directly and working with product management and design to identify and solve their problems. You will be leading a team responsible for multiple areas of the product from frontend and backend development to novel AI features. This team will be yours to grow and you will partner with stakeholders across the company to help shape our future.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
- While there may be some handson coding for this role we are looking for an experienced manager who has a strong technical and delivery background and has worked as a software engineer in previous roles and have some knowledge of leading development teams.We recognise that Engineering Managers lead in different ways we re looking for someone who: Delivery and : Enjoys taking accountability for delivery across your squad(s) collaborating with the wider product delivery org including Design and Product.
- Engineering and Operational Excellence: Actively fosters a high bar for engineering excellence within your teams. You re accountable for the technical outcomes your teams deliver alongside individual engineer performance and growth so holding a high bar (and clearly articulating your expectations) is key.
- People Leadership: Is able to lead a group of around 10 engineers and support coach and develop them through their career with regular 1:1s and continuous feedback.
- Technical Influence: Partners with senior engineers to drive technical initiatives that raise the bar for our engineering practices.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Builds strong stakeholder relationships with other teams and creates a focus space for engineers to do their best work.
- Organisational Wide Impact: Collaborates with the wider engineering organisation to contribute to companywide best managerial and technical practices and standards.
Requirements
Qualifications and Ss Required:
- Previous experience as a software engineer (5 years)
- Previous experience as a team lead or engineering manager (2 years)
Nice to have:
- Experience at a fast growing startup
- Experience building SaaS products for enterprise customers
- Experience building on a MEAN stack (MongoDB ExpressJS Angular Node JS)
