The Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the accounting department. This role involves processing transactions maintaining records assisting with financial reporting and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The Accounting Assistant will work closely with the accounting team to support accurate and timely financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transaction Processing:
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions including invoice entry payment processing and customer billing.
- Assist in the preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Ensure proper coding and documentation of transactions.
- Record Maintenance:
- Maintain accurate and uptodate accounting records and files.
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts.
- Assist in the maintenance of the general ledger.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Compile and analyze financial information for management review.
- Support the monthend and yearend closing processes.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to the accounting department including filing data entry and answering phones.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Associates degree in Accounting Finance or a related field preferred.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks SAP Oracle) is preferred.
