Custodian - University 1st Shift

Seeking a dedicated and reliable Facilities Technician to join our Facilities Management team. The Facilities Technician will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness sanitation and safety of our clients campus buildings and facilities. This position requires attention to detail the ability to work independently and a commitment to creating a welcoming environment for students faculty staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Maintenance:

Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping mopping vacuuming dusting and disinfecting surfaces in classrooms offices restrooms and common areas.

Empty and clean trash receptacles and recycling bins.

Clean and sanitize restrooms replenish supplies and ensure proper hygiene standards are maintained.

Maintain cleanliness of windows doors and other glass surfaces.

Assist with floor care including stripping waxing and buffing as needed.

Safety and Compliance:

Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Report any maintenance or safety issues to the Facilities Supervisor promptly.

Use cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with safety data sheets (SDS) and university policies.

Event Support:

Set up and break down furniture and equipment for university events meetings and activities as needed.

Assist with special projects and seasonal tasks such as snow and ice removal during winter months.

Inventory and Equipment Management:

Maintain and organize custodial supply closets and equipment.

Monitor inventory levels and notify the Facilities Supervisor when supplies need to be reordered.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus but not required.

Reliable transportation.

Must pass a drug screening and background check.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently and effectively.

Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in cleaning tasks.

Good communication skills and the ability to interact positively with students faculty staff and visitors.

Physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks including lifting bending and standing for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

The position requires working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

May require working evenings weekends and holidays as needed to support university operations.
