The Role

As the Head of Biology you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our students by delivering highquality education and fostering a passion for biological sciences. You will be responsible for leading and managing the Biology Department ensuring the delivery of an engaging and challenging curriculum that meets the needs of all students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Biology Department overseeing curriculum planning delivery and assessment.
• Inspire and motivate students to achieve their highest potential in biology.
• Support and develop staff within the department through mentoring and professional development.
• Ensure the department stays up to date with the latest educational practices and advancements in biological sciences.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and success.
• Collaborate with colleagues and senior leadership to promote interdisciplinary learning and schoolwide initiatives.

About You

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and passionate biology educator with a proven track record of successful teaching and leadership. You should have excellent communication skills a collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Biological Sciences or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching biology at the secondary school level.
• Previous leadership experience within an educational setting is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and current educational developments in biology.
• Ability to inspire and engage students of all abilities.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
