Overview
The General Anaesthesia ICU Specialist plays a critical role in providing comprehensive anaesthesia care and managing critical care patients in the ICU. They are responsible for ensuring the safe administration of anaesthesia monitoring patients during procedures and delivering highquality critical care to patients.
Key responsibilities
- Administering general anesthesia to patients in the operating room
- Managing the sedation and airway of critically ill patients in the ICU
- Monitoring and assessing patients conditions during and after anesthesia
- Collaborating with surgeons physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop patient care plans
- Providing emergency care in critical situations
- Operating and maintaining specialized medical equipment
- Documenting patient care and maintaining accurate medical records
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and research activities
- Providing education and training to healthcare staff and residents
- Participating in oncall duties as required
Required qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Board certification in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine
- Valid state medical license and DEA registration
- Fellowship training in Critical Care Anesthesiology
- Proven experience in general anesthesia administration and critical care management
- Demonstrated proficiency in airway management and emergency procedures
- Uptodate knowledge of anesthetic agents techniques and equipment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced highstress environment
- Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities
- Commitment to patient safety and quality care
- Advanced life support certification (ACLS)
- Basic life support certification (BLS)
- Demonstrated commitment to continued medical education and professional development
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team
