TPF Recruitment is collaborating with a prestigious top 30 firm of chartered accountants located in West Sussex to fill the role of Head of Audit in their main office on the South Coast. The firm is renowned for its commitment to excellence and providing highquality services to its clients.
Ideally based around South East / South Coast with the capacity to work from the Portsmouth office. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements are available not necessarily requiring weekly office presence.
Role Overview: The Head of Audit will play a pivotal role in the firm serving as an autonomous leader within the audit department. This individual will collaborate closely with the Head of Compliance Audit Partners and Senior Managers across the organization to develop and review policies procedures and best practices related to auditing. The incumbent will not manage a client portfolio but will focus on providing strategic guidance particularly in the realm of UK accounting standards while also staying abreast of standards and guidance set by the ICAEW.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee due diligence processes related to audit for acquisitions.
- Act as a key authority figure within the audit department capable of pushing back when necessary and building strong relationships with Partners throughout the firm.
- Utilize expertise in audit software and technology to enhance audit processes and efficiency.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior audit staff as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Chartered Accountant with substantial experience in a similarsized firm.
- RI (Responsible Individual) status preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in UK accounting standards and regulations.
- Previous experience in a managerial capacity ideally at the Manager Senior Manager Director or Partner level (Salaried Partner is acceptable).
- Strong understanding and proficiency in audit software and technology.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and make strategic decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with internal stakeholders.

Skills Required: ACA/ACCA qualified or AAT qualified with relevant experience. Minimum of two years' recent practical audit experience. Proficiency in UK GAAP, FRS 102, LLP SORP, and ISAs. Strong IT skills, familiarity with CCH is advantageous. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Experience in team management, including workflow structuring and reviewing others' work. Specializations in Charity audits and/or Solicitor Accounts Rules are desirable. Awareness of updates in current accounts and audit legislation. Analytical mindset with a keen attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
