Chief Legal Officer

• Develop and lead corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the companys interests.
  
• Ensure the company s compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including real estate laws zoning laws environmental regulations and employment laws.
  
• Provide legal counsel to the board of directors CEO and other senior management on a broad range of legal and regulatory issues.
  
• Oversee the drafting review and negotiation of all legal documents including contracts for property acquisitions sales leases joint ventures and partnerships.
  
• Ensure all contracts and legal documents are properly documented and comply with current laws and regulations.
  
• Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure appropriate risk management strategies are in place.
  
• Manage and resolve legal disputes and litigation involving the company.
  
• Ensure the company s corporate governance policies and practices are robust and comply with regulatory requirements.
  
• Advise on corporate governance issues and ensure the board of directors and management are informed about new laws regulations and industry trends affecting the business.
  
• Oversee all legal aspects of real estate transactions including acquisitions dispositions financing leasing and development projects.
  
• Ensure thorough due diligence is conducted for all real estate transactions.
  
• Lead manage and mentor the inhouse legal team ensuring effective performance and development.
  
• Coordinate with external legal counsel as needed managing these relationships and controlling legal costs.
  
• Develop and implement company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and promote a culture of ethical business practices.
  
• Provide training to the company s employees on legal matters policies and compliance.
  

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  
• Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
  
• Minimum of 10 years of experience practicing law with a significant portion in real estate law.
  
• Experience in a senior legal position preferably as a General Counsel or Chief Legal Officer in a real estate company or related industry.
  
• Proven track record of managing complex real estate transactions and legal issues.
  
• Strong knowledge of real estate law contract law corporate law and regulatory compliance.
  
• Excellent negotiation communication and interpersonal skills.
