Title: Senior Electrical Engineer ( Oil & Gas)
Location: Baytown TX (OnSite)
Duration: 12 months contract
Roles & Responsibilities:
- The Electrical Engineer as part of the Engineering Services department at a major integrated petrochemical manufacturing facility is responsible for the optimization troubleshooting and design of a wide variety of electrical equipment.
- This involves time in the field ensuring that the installed electrical equipment contributes to safe environmentally sound reliable and profitable operations.
- Maintain close contact with operations maintenance engineering and project development to identify and implement electrical equipment repairs and reliability improvements
- Design and specify electrical equipment such as motors breakers relays generators substations buses starters transformers and other industrial electrical equipment (480V to 230kV)
- Coordinate projects for new or replacement equipment among engineering maintenance and operations
- Commissioning startup assistance and support of electrical systems with maintenance personnel
- Serve as an electrical technology expert liaison between project engineers plant maintenance and operations personnel
- Supports and interfaces with business teams to maintain and improve electrical reliability while reducing maintenance costs.
- Participates in screening optimization basic design preparation for electric power systems
- Develops project scoping design and detail specifications for electric power systems
- Monitors Engineering Quality Control and leads contractors electrical work to ensure consistency with project specifications and guidelines
- Support preparation of Design Basis Memorandums and develop Specifications
- Provides technical support and services to operating facilities
- Performs power systems simulations and analyses including load flow short circuit motor starting and reacceleration arc flash transient stability and relay coordination
- Updates Company practices and specifications
- Applies customers Global Practices Design Practices General Information and Instructions codes and standards in support of projects during the detailed design phase
- Participates actively in the Electrical Community of Practice
- Participates in incident investigations in support of assets
- Performs Risk Assessments and develops Equipment Strategies in support of assets
- Manages electrical area classification for assets within the facility supported
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in petrochemical industry with power systems as an Electrical Engineer
- 10 years experience preferred.
