Senior-Level Systems Administrator

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning and Leadership:

   • Provide strategic direction and technical leadership in the design implementation and optimization of the organizations IT infrastructure.
   • Collaborate with IT leadership and stakeholders to develop longterm IT strategies roadmaps and investment plans.

2. System Administration and Optimization:

   • Oversee the daytoday operation and maintenance of the organizations IT systems including servers networks storage and virtualization environments.
   • Implement best practices for system configuration performance tuning capacity planning and scalability.

3. Technical Support and Escalation:

   • Serve as a senior technical resource for troubleshooting complex technical issues and providing advanced technical support to endusers and IT team members.
   • Handle escalated incidents and problems working closely with team members to ensure timely resolution and minimal impact on business operations.

4. Security Management and Compliance:

   • Develop and implement security policies procedures and controls to protect IT systems data and infrastructure from security threats and vulnerabilities.
   • Conduct regular security assessments audits and compliance checks to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards.

5. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:

   • Lead the development and maintenance of comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure resilience and availability of critical IT systems and services.
   • Coordinate and conduct regular testing and drills to validate the effectiveness of recovery procedures and documentation.

6. Vendor Management and Procurement:

   • Manage vendor relationships and contracts related to IT systems hardware software and services.
   • Evaluate and procure technology solutions and services ensuring alignment with business requirements and strategic objectives.

7. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

   • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations procedures troubleshooting steps and best practices.
   • Share knowledge and expertise with team members through training sessions mentoring and collaboration.

8. Project Management and Implementation:

   • Lead IT projects and initiatives related to system upgrades migrations implementations and optimizations.
   • Develop project plans timelines and budgets and oversee project execution to ensure successful delivery within scope schedule and budget constraints.

Qualifications:

1. Education: Bachelors degree in computer science information technology or a related field. Advanced certifications (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Cisco Certified Network Professional) are preferred.

2. Experience: 58 years of experience in progressively responsible system administration roles with a focus on managing complex IT infrastructures in enterprise environments.

3. Technical Skills:

   • Expertise in administering Windows Server and/or Linux/Unix operating systems including installation configuration troubleshooting and optimization.
   • Advanced knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware vSphere Microsoft HyperV) and cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Azure).
   • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols security principles and backup and recovery solutions.
   • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell Bash) for automation and system management.

4. Leadership and Communication:

   • Excellent leadership interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively lead and mentor a team of IT professionals.
   • Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities. Ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.

5. Project Management: Experience in managing IT projects from initiation to completion. Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
