  • UNFPA is seeking candidates that transform, inspire and deliver high impact and sustained results; we need staff who are transparent, exceptional in how they manage the resources entrusted to them and who commit to deliver excellence in programme results.

    Job Purpose

    In the context of the UNFPA 10 th Country Programme (2023-2027) in Jordan, and in view of the protracted humanitarian situation of Syrian refugees in Jordan, you will assist in the e mergency preparedness and humanitarian response, in line with UNFPA global strategy in humanitarian settings.
  • You will contribute to strengthen national capacity to provide sexual and reproductive health services, and SGBV prevention and response in humanitarian settings.

    You will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with counterparts from the government, and civil society in the camps and host communities working to address humanitarian emerging issues,
  • and support the programme coordinator to effectively influence diverse stakeholders to contribute to achieving UNFPA’s mandate.

    You Would Be Responsible For
  • Continuously analyze the situation in the camps and host community and provide report to the Programme Coordinator on the major changes and trends;
  • Support the programme team in ensuring that the implementation of the SRHR and SGBV humanitarian interventions inside the camps and in the host community are in line with the CO plans, and that IPs are providing high quality services with the support of the technical specialists.
  • Support the programme team in assessing the needs of women and girls and ensure with the support of the programme coordinator the effective inclusion of GBV and SRH issues in the UNFPA plan and the Jordan Humanitarian Response Plan.
  • Attend the in interagency meetings in the camps and share the outcome of the meetings with the Health Policy Specialist for the Health Sector/RH Working Group and to the Gender and Social Policy Specialist for GBV Sub Sector.
  • Support senior officers in their communications with camps’ management to ensure a multi-sectoral approach for GBV and SRH services;
  • Support senior officers and NGOs in the continuous assessment of the progress of the implementation on the ground and make recommendations as to the required adjustments with the support of the CO’s programme team.
  • Support the programme team in reviewing the capacity of the IPs and make recommendations with respect to the required training for service providers in SRH and SGBV, including selection of participants, trainers, reviewing agenda and agree on follow-up actions.
  • Support the SRH team and implementing partners to ensure the availability of family planning methods and equipment according to the need assessment and UNFPA established procedures.
  • Assist the Mentoring and Evaluation Officer to get the community feedback and community’s perception on health and GBV services, and with the support of the Programme Specialists ensure outreach activities to promote community engagement;
  • Assist the SRH and GBV Programme Specialists to monitor the progress of achieving humanitarian results as indicated in the results framework.
  • Provide feedback to the Humanitarian Coordinator on the proposed SRH and GBV humanitarian interventions and budget by implementing partners.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to country office with regard to UNFPA’s interventions in humanitarian response, in accordance with UNFPA policies;
  • Work with communication team to document good practices and assist the BCC Specialist to produce BCC materials and distribution plan.
  • Assist the Programme Coordinator in scanning of the environment to providing an early warning information and assuring preparedness mechanisms in the country office for addressing timely response to potential emergencies.
  • Support the Programme Coordinator and Programme Specialists incoordinating the country office in the preparation of appeals for the CAP process, through networking with UNHCR and other stakeholders at the country level as necessary.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be required by your direct supervisor or the country office Repressive.

  • Education

    Qualifications and Experience:

    Advanced degree in medical sciences, public health, humanitarian studies, or other social science and development related field.

    Knowledge And Experience
  • Previous professional experience in humanitarian response.
  • Knowledge of reproductive health, and protection issues in humanitarian settings
  • Field experience addressing/integrating gender, and reproductive health issues in emergency and post conflict contexts.
  • Computer literacy (web-based environment and platforms, MS office suite)
