The Role:
We are seeking a Consultant/Specialist Neurologist to join the team on a Permanent Full-Time basis, working in a stunning tropical location in a redeveloped Hospital equipped with leading edge technology!

This role is to guide the provision of quality Neurology services. This includes outpatient clinics, inpatient consultation to medical teams, and being a clinical lead for the acute and subacute stroke service. Active involvement in their teaching program and regular clinics/procedural clinics encouraged, alongside the ability to do procedural work such as Botox injections on site.

You will work as a part of the General Medicine department and report to the Clinical Director of Medicine. Currently, we provide the following outpatient clinics: General Neurology clinics and Botulinum Toxin clinics for chronic migraines. Applicants will be supported if they want to run other specialised clinics also.

The Hospital:
This is a level 2 hospital (354) beds with 24-hour cardiac intervention, trauma service, medical specialities including Respiratory, Nephrology, Neurology, Endocrine, Rheumatology, Oncology on site with visiting specialists in other disciplines.

To reflect the growing demand for health care in the region, the Hospital has been redeveloped at a cost of $408 million. The redeveloped hospital is a digital hospital, equipped with leading edge technology to assist staff to provide the highest level of care and comfort to patients. It is the first regional hospital in Queensland to have the complete integrated electronic medical record.

Location:
A vibrant tropical location, home to a diverse and energetic community with rural and coastal living opportunities. The region stretches from secluded islands off the coast through golden sand beaches and into lush sub-tropical rain forests.
This is one of the fastest growing regions in Queensland, currently a population of approximately 182,000 people in the region, only just over an hour's flight from Brisbane.

Mandatory qualifications/Professional registration:
Registration with the Medical Board of Australia with Specialist registration in Neurology or appropriate registration with the Medical Board of Australia to practise in the specialist position and; Fellowship or eligibility for Fellowship via the substantial comparability pathway of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP) in Neurology.
