GovCIO is currently hiring for a Satellite Communications (SATCOM) FSR. This position will be located in MSAB, Jordan; Shaw AFB, SC; ADAB, UAE; Kuwait and will be onsite.
Responsibilities
Establishes and maintains smooth operation of computer systems (to include operating systems, software, and hardware) in networked or stand-alone configurations, maintains system integrity, and upgrades systems and/or servers as required. May create and document new methods supporting network/system operations and implement changes to procedures. Consults with support teams, help desks, customers, and other technical staff in the resolution of problems, coordinates and performs the operation and/or maintenance activities for networks/servers, identify recurring problems, and recommends steps to reduce the severity or frequency of problems. May plan for the transition of development and/or production environments to new technologies, utilize system software to monitor the performance of system files, manage system data to maintain performance efficiencies, and/or study system requirements to determine proper server installation methods and procedures. Lead-level supervisory and practical experience in: shop practices; installations, repair and troubleshooting or maintenance of satellite systems; able to solve complex problems, understand the interrelationships of circuits, and be able to exercise independent judgment in performing tasks in support of communications systems or equipment.
Expert in working with military satellite communications or commercial satellite communications terminals to include: X, C, KA, Ku-band satellite terminals; and FDMA, TDMA, IP-type satellite modems.
Provides regular monitoring and system analysis regarding short and long-range planning for in-house systems.
Applies patches and upgrades to the systems as needed.
Prepares or ensures that appropriate system documentation exists, including operational instructions.
May coordinate third-party maintenance for SATCOM equipment.
Installs all new hardware, systems, and software for SATCOM systems.
Monitor SSPA, LNA/LNB, up and down converters and provide technical support to optimize utilization.
Provide training to users on SATCOM systems.
Attends weekly video teleconferences.
Performs troubleshooting analysis of SSPA, LNA/LNB, up and down converters, Fiber Optic/Coax/Ethernet cables that support satellite systems.
Provides monthly reports of SATCOM issues.

Qualifications
High School with 3 - 6 years (or commensurate experience)
Clearance required: Secret
SHF Satcom Operator Course and SHF Maintenance Course

In addition, applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment may be subject to government security investigation(s) and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
5 years of experience operating fixed or deployable satellite systems.
5 years of experience performing or directly supporting installations, repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance of electronic systems.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Direct Time Division Multiple Access Certification; AND - Must be tower climbing certified
