Cover Technician - Furniture Manufacturing - Dallas TX

Job Title: Cover Technician

Reports To: Document Control Supervisor

Summary:

As a Cover Technician report directly to the Document Control Supervisor and fulfill the role of Covering Technician/CAD Designer (CT).

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage new styles primary and secondary cover setups.
  
• Name and zone patterns during marker creation.
  
• Maintain COM and cover categories in Oracle resolving BOM Usage Errors.
  
• Assign thread colors to covers and update information in Oracle.
  

Additional Responsibilities:

• Correct and manipulate current patterns and styles for errors/changes.
  
• Set up and maintain style BOMs for primary and secondary materials.
  
• Cut patterns for customer service and other projects.
  
• Address special requests for customers.
  
• Handle special projects related to cutting test cloths/leather and nesting.
  
• Train and oversee the cutting of matched materials (match point).
  

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• 2 years of experience with pattern making and relevant software packages (Cut Works AutoCAD etc.).
  
• 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office (Excel Word Project PowerPoint etc.).
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  
• Knowledge of manufacturing principles and methods.
  
• Selfmotivated with excellent organizational skills.
  
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  
• Willingness to perform other tasks and be crosstrained in Engineering processes.
  
• Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned.
  

Working Conditions:

• Normal manufacturing environment conditions including occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. daily walking of one mile and the use of safety equipment on the plant floor (closedtoe shoes ear and eye protection as required).
  

2 years experience with pattern making and relative software packages (Cut Works, AutoCAD, etc). 2 years experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, etc). Excellent verbal and written communication. Knowledge of manufacturing principles and methods. Self-motivated and must have excellent organizational skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Availability to perform other tasks and be cross trained in Engineering processes. Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
