Construction Department Manager

Midwest multi-disciplined engineering firm is looking to add a Construction Department Manager to their Chicago suburb team!

Responsibilities:

• As department manager, oversee work of others and assign work to staff
  
• Mentor/train staff
  
• Assist with business development
  
• Provide general municipal engineering services (roadway, underground utility, and infrastructure improvements)
  
• Assist transportation department (complete engineering plans, specifications using IDOT Standards, and drainage engineering studies)
  
• Develop hydrologic/hydraulic models of municipal storm sewer and sanitary collection system
  
• Analysis/design of municipal stormwater facilities and proposed improvement plans
  
• Identify/submit grant applications
  
• Attend client meetings
  
• Prepare written review reports and communicate results with staff, developers, and designers
  
• Respond promptly to all inquiries
  
• Work with local government staff/officials
  
• Travel to work sites if needed

Requirements:

• B.S. degree in Civil/Construction Engineering from an accredited program (emphasis on construction engineering preferred)
  
• 5+ years of experience
  
• PE License
  
• Knowledge of principles of engineering
  
• Advanced engineering expertise preferred
  
• Experience with IDOT or Illinois Tollway projects preferred
  
• Proficient in proprietary software (IDOT/Tollway construction management programs)
  
• Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff/officials
