If you have a broad command of human resources in an international non-profit organization, this position will empower you to contribute in a meaningful way and make a difference in important ocean con-servation efforts. SFP s HR Director is responsible for all human resources activities for the organization. This hands-on position leads a small HR team. The HR Director works closely with the Deputy OPS Director, CFO, COO and other senior leaders, and ensures that HR policies and procedures reflect best practices, support the organization s mission, and foster a staff-oriented culture. We are looking for someone who can grow alongside our organization as we evolve and grow.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITES
Direct all HR Operations
Plan, lead, develop and coordinate HR policies, activities, staff and resources
Build a cross-trained, cohesive, and supportive HR team
Develop, manage, and execute a comprehensive HR strategy that supports SFP s strategic, operational, and programmatic objectives
Ensure all aspects of employee administration are well managed, including activities that are coordinated both internally and via external providers (e.g., hiring, separations, compensation & pay-setting, payroll & benefits, processes, reporting, staff relations & communications, etc.)
Work closely with the Deputy OPS Director, Finance and Terra (time and narrative reporting) teams, and other key staff, as well as external providers, to ensure that coordinated HR functions are well-managed and efficient
Support and advise senior leaders on employment issues, including legal compliance, management, employee relations, engagement, training & development, etc.
Direct all HR Policies and Procedures
Develop, revise, maintain, implement, and enforce SFP s HR policies
Ensure that policies are compliant, effective, and aligned with applicable 3rd-party providers (domestic & global)
Ensure that internal and externally-facing HR procedures (e.g., recruiting, hiring, employment changes, separations, compensation analysis & pay setting, performance management, etc) are documented, effective, efficient, timely, accurate, etc.
Direct and assist hiring managers with staff and consultant recruiting process (advertising, interviewing, negotiations)
Collaborate with hiring managers on new or revised job descriptions as necessary
Manage 3rd Party Service Providers
Administer employees, payroll and benefits through PEO/HR Providers
Identify, select, and implement PEO/HR providers for non US staff in key countries
Direct establishment and renewal of competitive employee benefit programs including health, dental, life, disability, pension, and other benefits for employees of US and non-US entities as required
Manage insurance provisions for the organization
Training
Develop and maintain staff training program to support ongoing professional development
Develop and maintain a comprehensive on-boarding/training program for new staff
Develop and conduct regular training on HR policies and HR procedures relevant to all staff
Compensation
Coordinate and prepare periodic competitive compensation analysis for staff positions
Support the Board Compensation Committee to oversee/coordinate annual CEO compensation review
Develop a competitive global compensation policy for staff positions
Performance Management
Ensure timely and effective administration of regular internal performance evaluations for employees.
Innovate performance management tools to develop and manage SFP employees
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 7 years experience managing human resources function
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a small HR team in an international non-profit organization of similar size as SFP (60+ employees)
Knowledge of international employment matters and staffing
Experience working with PEOs (global PEO experience a plus)
Excellent communication, organization, and negotiation skills
An ability to interact effectively with staff from various cultures and countries
Ability to comfortably read, write, and speak in English
Ability to maintain information in strict confidentiality
Ability to work from home office
Ability to establish and maintain open communication, culture, and cohesiveness in an international organization
Scheduling flexibility to accommodate a virtual organization with staff working from home offices around the globe, as well as ability to work productively primarily via Skype, email, webinars, and other electronic means.
LEVEL OF EFFORT
This is a full-time employee position. Level of Effort is expected to be 40 hours per week. The anticipated start date is 14 August 2023.
COMPENSATION
$100,000 - $115,000/year, based on experience & qualifications
