Internship - Simulation Engineer

Swiss based Dufour Aerospace is developing an eVTOL platform based on tilt-wing technology to make future manned and unmanned electric and hybrid electric aircraft a reality. Dufour s prototypes have already flown many hundreds of flights both manned and unmanned. The combination of VTOL operation, aircraft design and software development expertise puts Dufour Aerospace at the forefront of Advanced Air Mobility.

Our internship positions target Bachelor and Master students with a minimum commitment of 6 months and a potential interest in subsequently working with us.

Tasks

Simulation Engineer

We are seeking an intern who is passionate about manned and unmanned aerial vehicles to join our team and work on our tilt-wing aircraft simulation tool. In this interdisciplinary role, you will help to model the dynamics of our different aircraft and extend the functionality of various in-house toolsets.
In our dynamic startup environment, you will need to be adaptable, and there is a great deal of room for growth. Working location is Altstetten ZH.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of a simulation model for tilt-wing aircraft
• Working together with other departments to extend the simulation interface
• Implementing new visualization methods

Requirements

Required

• Background in mechanical or aerospace engineering (or similar)
• Solid knowledge in Python and object-oriented programming
• Experience working with Git
• Familiarity with control systems and dynamical models
• Basic experience in 3D modeling (CAD)
• A hands-on problem-solving approach to engineering

Desired

• Passion for aviation, aerospace engineering and flight simulation
• Basic knowledge in C++
• Familiarity with databases (InfluxDB) and communication protocols (UDP)
• Experience in system identification
