The Protein Buyer will be responsible for procuring meat (beef, pork, and poultry) products. The protein buyer must correctly prioritize customer needs when procuring while sustaining profitability to benefit. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work for a well-established USDA meat packing and processing organization that provides protein food products to a variety of industries.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Protein vendor management including selection, price negotiation, ingredient specification, etc..
- Coordination of timelines and inventories
- Report forecasted volume to management to oversee price risks and other variables in the supply chain
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the procurement of protein products (beef, pork, and poultry)
- Experience in contract negotiation and supplier management
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Market analysis skills
- High level of computer competency
