Software Engineer II

Our location in Sylmar, CA , currently has an opportunity for a consultant Software Requirements Engineer. The Requirements Engineer supports the collection, analysis, specification, documentation, and continuous management of requirements. The RE supports the translation of the solution strategy into a detailed solution design by providing software requirement specifications.

Supports the Senior Requirements Engineer in his/her execution of Requirements Engineering core tasks and responsibilities
Supports the elicitation and documentation of requirements (e.g. business requirements, stakeholder requirements, external interfaces, constraints, and other nonfunctional requirements) in a standard form (in the DOORS Requirements Management Tool)
Supports the transformation of system requirements into Use Case specifications and breaks down high level feature requirements into functional requirements to an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by Developers and Verification testers
Participates in peer and design reviews of requirements documents
Looks for guidance from more senior colleagues - receives mentoring from Senior Requirement Engineers
Monitors work to ensure quality, and continuously promote quality
Ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally
Capable of working independently as well as be a good team player

3+ years' experience in requirements management
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline

Preferred
Working knowledge of standard requirements elicitation tools and other software. (DOORs, and MS products Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience in Azure cloud is preferred
Experience in cybersecurity concepts are a plus
Demonstrate potential for technical proficiency, engineering creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought
Strong understanding of engineering principles and concepts
Knowledge of contemporary requirements elicitation, analysis, specification, and verification and the ability to apply them in practice
Ability to practice requirements engineering according to development life cycles in a team environment
Understanding of how requirements are traced
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and a head for problem-solving
Skilled at working in tandem with a team or unsupervised as required.
