A Birmingham area structural engineering firmis currently seeking atalented Project Engineer for theiroffice!
Responsibilities:
- Assist inproject design decisions, such as architectural constraints, load requirements, governing codes, operational constraints,fabrication and erectionrequirements
- Manage multiple projects of varying size or portions of major projects with minimal supervision
- Participate in developing client proposals including preparing scope, budgets, andschedules for assignments
- Build/maintain client relationships throughout development of project and maintain relationship after project is complete
- Mentor junior staff (develop technical skills)
- Perform overall design/engineering of structural systems for projects assigned from start to finish
- Perform structural calculations and develop appropriate system concepts and layouts
- Prepare contract documents, reports, structural cost estimates, technical specificationsand other relevant documents
- Review and upon RFI s, submittals, and other related documents
- Lead team of structural engineers, designers and/or drafters in production of structural construction documents (drawings, specifications, bidding, andconstruction administration for projects)
Requirements:
- B.S. degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering (or equivalent), M.S. preferred
- 7+ years of related experience
- Michigan P.E. (S.E. preferred)
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Excel, MathCAD,RISA, RAM, Revit, SAP2000, andTekladesired
- Familiarity with building codes and AISC Design Manual
- Ability to multi-task with little direct supervision in a fast paced environment
