Biomedical Engineer

Job Description

• Plan and execute acquisition program for medical equipment and furniture;
  • Needs Assessment in coordination with medical staff
  • Room By Room and Bill of Quantities
  • Technical assessment of loaded drawings of medical equipment according to room schedules.
  • Participating in site preparation meetings and arranging with related stakeholders
  • Preparing detailed technical specifications according to selection criteria that coincide with hospital vision and strategic goals
  • Technical evaluation of suppliers’ proposals of medical equipment during procurement
  • Installation
  • Inspection & Testing for Acceptance
  • Training on safe use and applications of medical equipment for end-users.
  • Handing Over from contractor/supplier
• Plan and execute an effective management program for medical equipment and furniture including
  • Continuous update for medical equipment and furniture Inventory. Identifying critical and specialized equipment
  • New end-user orientation on safe use and applications of medical equipment
  • Periodic training on safe use and applications of medical equipment for end-users
  • Troubleshooting, Repairs, and Corrective Maintenance and labeling malfunctioned equipment and monitoring downtime
  • Work order Management
  • Periodic Inspection& Testing & Preventive Maintenance
  • Medical equipment output Validation and calibration.
  • Coordinate with related stakeholders to expedite work accomplishment with identified key performance indicators.

  • Cost Analysis & Budget Planning
  • Material Stock (spare parts/consumables) Planning & Management
  • Monitoring Key performance indicators and management plan evaluation
  • Periodic Reporting about medical equipment conditions, faults, and downtime.
  • Decommissioning & Pricing Scraped equipment/furniture and spare parts.
• Risk Management for Medical Equipment
  • Hazard Alerts management
  • Recalls management
  • Incident reports analysis & corrective actions
• Management of service agreements.
• Development & management of policies & procedures that governs all biomedical engineering department processes.
• Comply with hospital infection control and health & Occupational health guidelines.
• Comply with departmental and hospital continuous education and training policy and plans
• Comply with hospital and department values, vision, mission, strategic goals, objectives, rules, and policies.
• Comply with national and international standards related to medical equipment and furniture

Job Requirements

• B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering. Preferable additional studies.
• Minimum experience of 3 years as a biomedical engineer in healthcare organizations. Preferable Accredited hospitals.
• Good command ofboth Arabic & English.
• Good command of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Preferable Awareness of national and international standards related to medical equipment management (e.g. GAHAR, JCI, ISO…)
• Preferred Capability to use AutoCAD is preferable.
