The Retirement Housing Foundation (RHF) has been giving old folks homes since the mid-1960s. Affiliated with the United Church of Christ, the not-for-profit RHF manages nearly 160 communities -- ranging from a 12-unit home to an apartment complex for more than 1,000 -- in 24 states, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. RHF's facilities also include skilled nursing homes, respite care, and assisted living homes. Its memory care facilities provide specialized care for people suffering from memory loss. Over its 47 years in operation, RHF has expanded its service line to include people with disabilities and disadvantaged families; today nearly 17,000 people live in RHF housing.
