Job Description

Responsibilities:

Behavior instructors work with our clients to assist them in learning social skills improved school behaviors and coping skills that will help the youth better understand and deal with the issues that require them to be in treatment. After training B.I.s utilize Teaching Family Model procedures to assist the youth in accomplishing these objectives . This includes various types of behavior interventions aimed at reinforcing the child for progress and positive behaviors while using a youth centered motivation system to encourage the clients to improve. Behavior Instructors also receive training on safe de escalation techniques learning theory and other vital topics with 24/7 hour coaching and support from management staff.

Teaches youth a curriculum of skills in social selfhelp independent living maintenance and academic areas and provides moral spiritual and physical training and guidance to the youth assigned to their home.

Provides or coordinates academic assistance to youth and works closely with the school that the youth attends. On weekends or when a child is not attending school this may consist of developing and monitoring activities and homework assignments. Ensuring that school dayhours are followed for youth not attending class and required daily study hours are monitored.

Assists with the development of a normalized home environment that encourages the building of close family relationships among the youth and provides a naturalized family living experience. Assist with the provision of counseling concern direction assistance and support that would normally be received from a parent.

May assist with youth intake: assessment of youth completion of intake documentation and case management of clients.

Distribution of prescription medications according to physician. (See medication education policy and safety manual policies concerning medication).

Provides crisis intervention as necessary; shall be trained regarding trauma informed care Qualified Behavioral Health Professional duties and documentation as well as crisis management.

Maintains competency in the Teaching Family Model and follows program guidelines as trained.

Disseminates agency and program information to social service agencies churches childcare institutions etc. as needed.

Assists in developing and implementing a structured activity schedule for daytoday activities.

Remains informed about local state and federal standards and regulations pertaining to the provision of services to youth and their families.

Assists staff and/or clients with appropriate discharge criteria/plans.

Must be diligent in maintaining all required documentation concerning youth and reports for all program areas in a timely fashion. Must maintain alerts within CareLogic electronic medical record system.

Follows all policy and procedure guidelines specifically and remains informed about any additions or changes.

Works closely with the youths parents teachers social workers and significant others to ensure the definition and implementation of a proper and effective program and to assist each youth in achieving his/her maximum potential.

Assists in preparation and helps maintain compliance with Licensing Medicaid OSHA TFA and TJC standards.

Ensures that the home is kept clean and in compliance with licensing and health standards.

Takes advantage of professional growth opportunities and inservice training. Maintains required training hours.

Attends regular staff meetings as required; cooperative in scheduling consultation/supervision visits to the home. Seek out responds positively to and implements suggestions and feedback from supervisors.

Acknowledges reading provided materials.

Provides and maintains requested information and program records.

Physically capable of restraining youth if necessary (must be trained in NonViolent Crisis Intervention and follow policy guidelines concerning seclusion/restraint).

Works closely with the Program Consultant to ensure efficient home coverage and mutually satisfying working relationships. Cooperates with scheduling criteria is punctual and dependable and provides phone numbers which allow him/her to be contacted for work when emergency situations and/or vacations etc require regular staff to be off duty.

Seeks out responds positively to and implements suggestions and feedback from supervisors.

Physically capable and willing to teach and assist youth in maintenance activities occurring in and around the home which may include but are not limited to: yard work interior cleaning vehicle cleaning and maintenance laundry cooking menuplanning and shopping.

Implements an individualized treatment plan for each youth as designated in his/her treatment plan.

Under the direction of the Program Consultant expends money for youth home operation. Maintains receipts and other fiscal records as directed and in accordance with sound business practice.

Current and timely regarding all mandatory employee requirements.

Performs related duties as requested by the Program Consultant Department Director or other applicable personnel.

Qualifications

Must be at least twentyone years of age and a college degree or at least 60 hours towards completion of college degree is preferred but a high school diploma is required.

Possesses computer skills preferably in Microsoft Word and Quicken applications and able to document accurately and professionally.

Possesses the ability to understand and implement extensive training and to apply that training to the implementation of a comprehensive program of care for youth.

Remains current in Crisis Prevention Intervention Training QBHP training CPR & First Aid.

Experience working with atrisk youth or other populations with special needs preferred.

Ability as a selfmotivator and the aptitude to work in a high stress fast paced position with a minimal amount of supervision.

Possess or able to obtain a valid Arkansas Drivers License within 30 days from date of hire.

Must be eligible to be insured to drive MFH vehicles.

Must be willing and able to work with all patients of Methodist Family Health regardless of gender or sexual orientation.

Must have good auditory visual and olfactory ability.

Requires the ability to sit and stand for long periods of time and intermittently walk stand stoop kneel crouch and reach with hands and arms.

Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects tools or controls.

Must be able to maintain effective audio visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations communicating with others and reading and writing and operating office equipment and other treatment equipment.

Must be able to use a telephone to communicate verbally and a computer to communicate through written means to review information and enter/retrieve data to see and read characters on a computer screen chart or other treatment items.

Requires the strength and stamina to perform clinical duties.

Must be willing to work with all patients of Methodist Family Health.

Flu shot is mandatory and required for all positions (subject to qualified exemptions).

Level One Full Access: Ongoing regular access to PHI of all forms while the employee is on duty and performing within the scope of his or her job as defined by the employees job description and Policy and Procedure. Such access must be for cause consistent with job responsibilities and related to patients claims audits reviews and other legitimate business purposes. (e.g. Physicians nurses and other clinicians)
