Description of Job


This position is assigned to the Division of Adult Parole and provides daily administrative case management functions for the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC). Utilizing an advocacybased team approach to case management this position will focus on administrative supervision of community corrections residential offenders released to the community as well as parolees placed in community corrections as a condition of parole.

This position exists to collaboratively work with community corrections residential case managers in transitioning the offenders from residential status to ISPI or parole status and is considered primarily an administrative position.
Primary job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Maintain regular interaction with community corrections case managers and offenders to monitor evaluate and record progress to include ensuring medical mental health substance treatment education program referrals and employment needs are addressed;
  • Assist offenders in preparole and case planning in collaboration with community corrections case managers reentry staff and parole officers;
  • Identify and collect meaningful information in relation to criminogenic needs and collaboratively develop appropriate programmatic interventions with the offender;
  • Utilize evidencebased supervision techniques that include risk/needs assessment monitoring case planning advocacy and linking the offender with support services in the community;
  • Determine appropriate programmatic needs and collaboratively develop case plans and goals with the offender;
  • Monitor evaluate and record offender progress with respect to goals and make modifications as status readiness to change and progress occurs;
  • Act as offender advocate determining most efficient and effective method to incentivize and achieve goals;
  • Deliver case management services utilizing motivational interviewing and cognitivebased interventions in alignment with the Colorado Transitional Accountability Plan (CTAP);
  • Provide guidance and assistance to offenders in adhering to treatment and case management plans;
  • Stress resultsoriented direction in guiding offenders or offender behavior to conform to socially acceptable standards through role modeling prosocial behavior while monitoring physical mental and emotional wellbeing of assigned offenders;
  • Maintain a supportive multidisciplinary network of effective communication between internal and external stakeholders providing opportunities for offenders to receive feedback crisis intervention and grievance resolution;
  • Complete and document offender contacts earn time grants behavioral adjustments assessments and treatment interventions;
  • Testify at hearings or trials and make recommendations to interventions regressions revocations or sanctions;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Substitutions Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights


Minimum Qualifications:

Three 3 years of experience working directly with a *hard to serve / high needs client population in a correctional / human services environment providing case management work to include case planning assessment of risks and needs coordination of community services and/or identifying needs referring to appropriate resources monitoring compliance and overall case supervisionas your primary assignment. Additional components may include multidisciplinary staffing/regular meetings resolving client issues and aiding offenders in locating housing and acquiring employment.

*Hard to serve / high needs clients include individuals with multiple barriers to employment lack of educational or occupational skills attainment lowincome workers earning wages below selfsufficiency low levels of literacy or English proficiency disability status basic skills deficient homelessness exoffenders and justice involved and public assistance dependency.

Three 3 years of **corrections experience which must include one 1 year experience with a hard to serve / high needs client population providing components of offender management exhibited by involvement and familiarity with processes that directly affect offender classification programming or daily living which provide progressive opportunities for appropriate placementto include involvement in: Internal Classification Committees (ICC) Classification Hearings Job Placement and Supervision Individualized Program Instruction/Tutoring MultiDisciplinary Staffing Responding to Offender Grievances and Resolving Offender Issues Offender Housing Placement and Movement Intelligence Gathering and Processing as well as Role Modeling ProSocial Behaviors while maintaining Positive Professional Communications by providing the offender population with Crisis Intervention. Additional components may include components such as aiding offenders in locating housing help with acquiring employment and community resources/ support to include regular meetings with clients coordination of services and/ or assessing clients needs and referring to appropriate program intervention. Experience may also include aiding clients with over coming barriers for stability in reaching reentry goals.

A combination of educationCriminal Justice Social Work Sociology Psychology or similarly related field)and experienceas defined above equal to three 3 years.
